WHOLISTIC OUTREACH runs with staff strength of 19 people-comprising of 4 home leaders, 2 creche attendants, 4 outreach team to brothels, 4 security guards and 5 admin staff.

A program organized involves most staff members and are carried out as a team work. The organization operates in 2 forms namely the Outreach/Rehabilitation arm and the preventive arm.

Carries out visits to brothels, counseling and organize programs like trainings and seminars, rehabilitations of the girls as well as training them on IGAs, caring for their children family reconciliation etc. Through the outreaches and various counseling, girls indicate their interest in coming out and are taken to the home in Ikorodu for the first 4 months of discipleship stage. At the end of this stage, they are taken home to their parents or guardian if any and consent sought to keep them in the custody of the organization if the family is seen to be incapable of helping the girls. They are then moved to Loburo Move home where they undergo 9 months skill training as well as continual discipleship programs including life skills. At the end of the program they are attached to an office for 3 months industrial Attachment and graduate from the home. A room is then rented for them, furnished sparsely and the equipments for skill learnt are purchased for them to work with in their choice of settlement.

PREVENTIVE ARM

Organizes trainings through the Wholistic Outreach Training School WOTRAP for the church members on issues of abstinence, as it affects our youths and teenages, setting up of youth clubs, life skill trainings etc.
Create awareness in the churches on the plight of CSWs

PAST PERFORMANCE
Source of Funding

From inception till date Wholistic Outreach gets its funding through various individuals and church members. From 2002 to 2007 we have spent more than 20 million naira in the average of 4 million Naira per annum. These monies are used for the various activities of the project like payment of salaries. Outreaches to brothels. Caring for and meeting the needs of the girls and their children in the home, hospital bills, school fees as well as running the training school. A 10 bedroom Rehabilitation home with a multipurpose hall was built by the Ministry for the girls in Move close to the Redemption Camp and its costs 13 Million Naira to complete. Another rented 3 bedrooms home is located in Ikorodu to meet the needs of that environ.

Impact of work on ground

In the past 5 years, Wholistic Outreach has set up two (2) women rehabilitation home at Ikorodu and move communities respectively. The home caters for the needs of ladies and young girls leaving sex work (CSW), homeless pregnant teenagers as well as homeless and single mothers within the age range of 15 to 30 years; with their children. The tenure of stay in the home is a period of one and a half to two years. So far, Wholisic Outreach has been able to achieve the following:

  • - No of Youth Pastors trained to run Life Skills programs in 15 Parishes of the Church
  • - No of Youth Clubs set up in Provinces using life skills manuals to reach out to the youths with the purpose of building up their valve system on sexual abstinence
  • - No of major evangelistic outreach programs to Brothels carried out inviting the CSWs and environs using gifts of clothing an
  • - Packed meals with care clinic as a means to reach out
  • - No of visits and follow up to various brothels in Lagos State visiting twice every week for counseling and ministrations.
  • - No of outreach Coordinators trained from various parishes to Head visitation to brothels and under the bridges
  • - No of girls rehabilitated so far
  • - No of girls graduated from the home and given IGA and set up with a rented apartment and soft loan to trade on skill learnt
  • - No of girls reconciled back to their parents
  • - No of girls in school undergoing literary education
  • - No of girls presently in the home
  • - No of children presently in the home

Challenges': our challenges have been mostly financial as our efforts have been slowed down because of the inability to rehabilitate most of the girls that are ready to leave the brothels. Most of the girls in the home come in pregnant thus we have had to cope with caring for them and their children thus making our financial budget very tight. Paying school fees for the children and the girls in school is also another challenge since some of the girls want to go back to school rather than learn a skill.
